Hanson (1915-2008) JESUP Roy Clifford Hanson, 92, of May 15, at Allen Memorial Hospital, following a hip fracture. He was born Nov. 14, 1915, in Volga, Jesup, died Thursday, Waterloo, of complications and Katherine Marie Christensen Hanson. On Aug.
31, 1941, he married Joyce Katherine Halls in Volga. She preceded him in death Nov. 3, 1981. On March 19, 1982, he married June Jeanette Michaelsen Faust in Las Vegas. He graduated from Volga High School and then attended college in Brookings, S.D.
Mr. Hanson worked in a grocery store until moving to Waterloo at the beginning of World War II. He Roy Hanson then entered the U.S. Army. After the war he sold meat to area locker plants Paul F.

Details weren't available. Virginia Anderson, 46, of 1136 Ackermant was arrested Tuesday for first-offense operating while intoxicated following a traffic accident with a tree and a utility pole. Antoine Durae Smith, 35, of 428 Center No. 3, was arrested Monday in the 1000 block of Broadway Street for felony assault on a peace officer, two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer and one count each of public intoxication and interference. Police were investigating a fight on Dawson Street, and Smith was being questioned when he allegedly punched an officer.
He allegedly scratched and head butted other officers while they were arresting him. Ronald Boesen Boesen, Ronald of Highlands Ranch, CO was born to Don and Ada (Boemecke) Boesen on May 19, 1942 in Waterloo, IA. He went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2008. Ron grew up in Waterloo and graduated from Columbus High School in 1960. He then went on to graduate from Iowa State University.
Ron loved to learn and continued to expand his knowledge in his many areas of interest. Ron's career included the Rock Island Railroad, the Railroad as well as numerous energy companies. After retiring from Kennecott Energy of Gillette, WY, Ron started Cactus Consulting serving Ronald Boesen the energy industry. Ron was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout the world. He and his wife loved to travel and did so extensively in the United States and abroad.
Ron was a loving husband, dad and grandfather and will be missed dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents and by granddaughter Kathryn Elizabeth Minter. Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years Barbara (Bawek); children Jon (Kelly) of Parker, CO; Betsy (Jeff) Minter of Overland Park, KS; Ben (Cindy) of Wichita, KS; Sharon (Justin) Thomas of Denver, CO; grandchildren Brian, Amy, Lindsey and Nathan Boesen, Bryndon, Cameron and Ethan Minter, Grant, Adam, Jared and Caroline Boesen and Julia Thomas. He is also survived by his brother Richard (Cindy) Boesen of Cedar Falls, IA. A memorial has been established in Ron's name with Restoration Family Ministries, 10043 Heywood Street, Littleton, CO 80130.
Roy Hanson for Swift and Company. In 1952 they moved to Jesup and purchased the Gerdes Locker which then became known as Hanson's Meat Processing and Sales. He was a member of the American Lutheran Church and Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 in Jesup, and a member and past president of the Jesup Lions Club and the Iowa Meat Processors Association. He was active in Boy Scouts and the Jesup Fire Department for many years. He was a founding father of the Jesup Golf and Country Club and an avid golfer into his late 1980s.
Mr. Hanson loved to travel and took trips to Norway, Italy, England, France, Germany and all over the United States. He was a life-long coin collector and interested in practically everything. Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Katherine Rachuy and Susan Bowers, both of Jesup; a son, Steve (Jane) of Jesup; a stepson, Steve (Connie) Faust of Grundy Center; a stepdaughter, Camille (Greg) Kastli of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Selma Bergen of La Habra, Calif. Preceded in death by: his parents; a son-in-law, Larry Rachuy; a stepson, Michael Faust; two brothers, Carl and Hardy; and five sisters, Amy Kiester, Viola Van Pelt, Helen Bortnem, Mariam Springer and Jean Lashbrook.

She was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Hebron, daughter of Morris and Elsie Webb Anderson. On Dec. 5, 1950, she married Paul L. Adrian in Hebron.
He preceded her in death. She graduated from Nelson (Neb.) High School in 1948. Mrs. Adrian was employed at Hinson Manufacturing, Waterloo-Cedar Falls. She was a member of the Brandon United Methodist Church.

Dale Edward Swomley Swomley, Dale Edward Age 59 of Gem Lake, Minn. Beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend, business owner, dog lover, artist, died of lung cancer on May 7, 2008, in Maplewood, Minn. Dale was born in Waterloo, and grew up in nearby Hudson. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1966 and received his bachelor and master's degrees from the University of Northern Iowa in 1970 and 1971. Dale went on to have a fine career as a teacher, pet store retailer, fish breeding expert, computer programmer, systems analyst and finally, co-founder of Soft Link, a computer consulting firm, based in Minnesota.

UNI counseling program earns high ratings CEDAR FALLS Results released by the Center for Credentialing and Education show students enrolled in the University of Northern Iowa counselor education program earned a 100 percent pass rate on the Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination in the fall of 2007 and spring of 2008. Of those, 71 percent scored above the national average. Across the country, 1,025 students took the exam, including 24 UNI students. The exam is used by 210 colleges and universities to assess students' knowledge of counseling information as determined by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.
